What a Beginning!
David Butler spent much of his life envisioning the perfect set of irons.  It took one round by his son, Robert, to prove them.
On the night of May 17, 2007, David and his son Robert built the first set of Butler Irons with True Temper Tour Concept shafts.  “We stayed up well after dark, with Robert hitting balls into the driving range, “ says David. “We used the computers to tweak distances and launch angles. We looked at impact and spin data, and then determined the optimal ball for him to combine with these clubs.”
The next morning, David and Robert challenged The Ocean Course at Half Moon Bay Golf Links with Tom Oku, of the Men’s Club, and Tom Culligan, who played in the 1975 Masters.  They witnessed an amazing round in which Robert used his new irons to shoot 68 from the tips, including a hole-in-one on the 216 yard, Par 3, 17th.
Two days later, father and son won their flight in the Half Moon Bay Men’s Club Invitational Tournament.
